Felling

If the tree can be safely cut from the bottom we can direct it to fall in a designated direction. this is the quickest way to get a tree on the ground but can only be done if there is enough space.

Sectional Take Down

We specialise in this type of removal. When a tree is in a position that means it cannot be safely felled we will carefully take it down piece by piece to protect your property. We will climb the tree and use various techniques to get the tree on the ground in confined spaces or over fences or outbuildings.

Limb Removal

The removal of specified branches for one of many reasons, whether it be damage, deadwood, diseased, closeness to houses or lines etc.

If a Tree close to your property is a worry and is unable to be climbed or felled from the ground we are trained to deal with it using an elevated work platform.

This is a safe and quick way of dealing with dead and dangerous trees.

Windblown Removal

We are trained to deal with with storm damaged trees which are often left hanging or under great strain as they fall.

This is a dangerous job, but we can make your fallen trees safe and clear them from being an obstruction.

Stump Grinding

Stump removal is no problem for us. We can hire in any size machine to get the job done quickly. Leaving you with flat ground to do with as you please.

Owl / Bird / Bat Box Installation

Because wildlife and ecology is important to us, we have actually had some really interesting jobs recently installing bird and owl boxes.  We have even had a call to rescue a cat stuck in a tree!

Logging up and chippping

Once a tree is on the ground it is up to you what is done with the wood.  We can chip the twigs into piles or spread them on your beds, we can cut the logs into rounds ready for splitting, or to keep the costs down we can leave the logs for you to work on yourself.

Pollard
pollard

The initial removal of the top of a young tree at a prescribed height to encourage multistem branching from that point, traditionally for fodder, firewood or poles. Once started, it should be repeated on a cyclical basis always retaining the initial pollard point.

Topping

Topping a tree is removing the highest part of the canopy and is generally harmful to the tree in most cases. Leaving large wounds and leaving the tree susceptible to decay as well as reducing its ability to produce and transport food and  energy whilst also encouraging the tree to quickly grow unattractive vertical branches. When there is no other option, such as a leylandii hedge, we can offer this service.  We would always recommend a crown reduction rather than a blunt topping of the tree.

Crown Thinning

Crown thinning is the removal of a portion of smaller/tertiary branches, usually at the outer crown, to produce a uniform density of foliage around an evenly spaced branch structure. Crown thinning does not alter the overall size or shape of the tree.  Common reasons for crown thinning are to allow more light to pass through the tree, reduce wind resistance, reduce weight and is rarely a once-only operation particularly on species that are known to produce large amounts of epicormic growth.

Crown Lift

Crown lifting is the removal of the lowest branches and/or preparing of lower branches for future removal.  Crown lifting is an effective method of increasing light transmission to areas closer to the tree or to enable access under the crown but should be restricted to less than 15% of the live crown height and leave the crown at least two thirds of the total height of the tree.

Crown Reduction

The reduction in height and/or spread of the crown (the foliage bearing portions) of a tree. Crown reduction may be used to reduce mechanical stress on individual branches or the whole tree, make the tree more suited to its immediate environment or to reduce the effects of shading and light loss, etc.
